Portofino is a small, ancient village that looks like a group of multicolored houses, tall and narrow, laid out along the bay near the famous square “Piazzetta”, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Park of Portofino.
In past years, this village has been characterized by the presence of different kind of celebrities, making it a popular holiday destination known all over the world.
These appearances led to some changes within the village with renowned fashion boutique taking the place of the small craft shops and with the presence of luxurious yachts in the harbor, once populated by small fishing boats.
Starting from the “Piazzetta” you can take pleasant walks to discover the village, between the pier and tiny “alleyways”, or in the direction of historical and natural relief places like the lighthouse, the beautiful Church of St. George or Fort Brown Castle, which dominates Portofino from above.
Portofino is easily accessible by bus, boat or walking down to the nearby promontory while we don’t reccomend the usage of the car, especially during the high season, becuase of the chance to find queue and also for the high rates of parking.
